Description: Manages Xedia Corp. RIP routing protocol version, update timers, neighbor state, and route redistribution.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is XEDIA-RIP-MIB?
The XEDIA-RIP-MIB is a Xedia Corporation MIB extending the IETF's standard RIPv2-MIB with additional RIP routing protocol management objects, including admin status, update timers, route-redistribution metrics, and per-interface RIP configuration such as slow-convergence technique and trigger events. It exposes routing-protocol configuration and per-interface routing behavior rather than hardware data. Its monitoring emphasis is on software/protocol health: confirming RIP is enabled and updating at the expected interval, and checking per-interface convergence settings to detect routing instability or slow reconvergence after a link change. It explicitly builds on and extends the IETF RIPv2-MIB (RFC 1724). It was deployed on Xedia routers running RIP for internal or branch-office routing. Engineers can download the XEDIA-RIP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in XEDIA-RIP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Xedia router
Monitoring Examples
xripAdminStat and xripUpdateTimer let an operator confirm RIP is administratively enabled and firing updates at the expected interval, while xripImportAdmin/xripImportMetric show whether routes are being redistributed into RIP and at what metric. Per-interface entries in xRip2XIfConfTable, such as xrip2IfConfSlowConvergenceTechnique and xrip2IfConfTriggerEvents, would reveal whether an interface is using slow convergence, which could explain unexpectedly long route reconvergence times after a link flap.
What Can Be Monitored
- RIP admin/operational status
- RIP update timer interval
- route redistribution/import metric
- per-interface RIP convergence settings
- trigger event counts
