Category: Wellfleet BayNetworks Routing Protocols

Description: Monitors Wellfleet RIPng (RIP for IPv6) routing updates, neighbor routes, and protocol statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Wellfleet-RIP6-MIB?

Wellfleet-RIP6-MIB is a legacy Wellfleet Communications (later Bay Networks/Nortel) proprietary MIB configuring RIPng (RIP for IPv6). Its interface table, keyed by index, records create/enable flags, state, supply/listen flags, default-route supply/listen flags, poisoned-reverse flag, broadcast/timeout/holddown timers, triggered-updates flag, and diameter, while a statistics table records inbound messages/requests/responses/bad-responses/bad-routes and outbound messages. As a configuration/performance MIB it lets an administrator confirm RIPng interface timers and watch malformed-route counts on a legacy Wellfleet (Bay Networks/Nortel) router. It is deployed on legacy Wellfleet Communications (Bay Networks/Nortel) routers running RIPng. Engineers can download the Wellfleet-RIP6-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Wellfleet-RIP6-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Legacy Wellfleet Communications (Bay Networks/Nortel) routers (RIPng)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks wfRipv6IfStatsInBadRoutes to diagnose a misconfigured RIPng neighbor on a legacy Wellfleet (Bay Networks/Nortel) router.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RIPng interface configuration and malformed-route statistics
