Description: Manages World Wide Packets IGMP snooping querier settings, group tables, and multicast forwarding entries.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is WWP-IGMP-SNOOP-MIB?
WWP-IGMP-SNOOP-MIB is a World Wide Packets (WWP) proprietary MIB implementing IGMP snooping on WWP Ethernet switching products, a feature that lets a switch track multicast group membership to forward multicast traffic only to interested ports. It exposes IGMP snooping querier settings, learned multicast group membership tables, and multicast forwarding entries per VLAN/port. This is chiefly a protocol/configuration-state MIB: monitoring it lets an administrator confirm the IGMP querier is active, see which multicast groups are currently learned on which ports, and verify forwarding entries match expected multicast subscribers -- a software/protocol health check for multicast delivery rather than physical hardware status. It builds on the standard IGMP protocol (RFC 3376) and IGMP-snooping concepts, though implemented here as a WWP proprietary extension. It is typically deployed on World Wide Packets Ethernet access/aggregation switches in carrier Ethernet or metro networks that carry multicast video or other multicast services. Engineers can download the WWP-IGMP-SNOOP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WWP-IGMP-SNOOP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- World Wide Packets Ethernet access/aggregation switch
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module. An administrator would typically poll the IGMP snooping group membership table to confirm expected multicast groups are learned on the correct ports, and check querier status to ensure IGMP snooping is actively managing multicast forwarding, though specific object names cannot be cited here.
What Can Be Monitored
- IGMP snooping querier status
- learned multicast group membership
- multicast forwarding entries per port/VLAN
