wwpIgmpSnoopLeaveMode

Module: WWP-IGMP-SNOOP-MIB

OID (symbolic): WWP-IGMP-SNOOP-MIB::wwpIgmpSnoopLeaveMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6141.2.10.1.1.10

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Setting the igmp leave mode to 'fast(1)' will cause the multicast stream to be pruned as soon as a leave is received. If this object is set to 'inquisitive(2)', then a Group Specific Query is created for the multicast stream for which the leave was received. If no membership report is received in the time interval configured by the wwpIgmpSnoopInqLeaveTimeout, then the multicast stream is pruned.

What is wwpIgmpSnoopLeaveMode?

This object selects how the switch handles IGMP leave messages: fast(1) immediately prunes the multicast stream as soon as a leave is received, while inquisitive(2) instead sends a Group-Specific Query and only prunes the stream if no membership report arrives within the wwpIgmpSnoopInqLeaveTimeout interval. An admin chooses inquisitive(2) to avoid briefly dropping a stream for other remaining members on a shared port when only one host leaves. For example, a switch serving multiple set-top boxes off one port would want inquisitive(2) mode so one box leaving a channel doesn't interrupt the multicast stream for the others still watching on the same port.
