What Is WTI-POWER-MIB?

WTI-POWER-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Western Telematic Inc. (WTI), a manufacturer of remote power management and power distribution unit (PDU) hardware used in data centers and network racks. It exposes objects describing the status of individual power outlets, current draw per outlet or circuit, and circuit breaker/fuse conditions on the PDU. This MIB is squarely a hardware-health monitoring module: administrators use it to confirm each outlet is powered on/off as expected, to watch current draw for overload conditions, and to detect tripped breakers before they cause an unplanned outage. As a power-hardware MIB it typically stands alone but may be deployed alongside standard SNMPv2-MIB system objects (uptime, etc.) for the PDU's own management processor. It is typically deployed in data center and telecom equipment rooms where WTI PDUs provide remote, SNMP-managed power control and monitoring for racks of network gear. Engineers can download the WTI-POWER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided, but consistent with the description, an administrator would poll the per-outlet status and current-draw objects on the WTI PDU to confirm each connected device's outlet is energized and drawing expected current. A circuit breaker showing a tripped condition, or an outlet reporting an unexpected current spike, would be an early warning of an overloaded circuit or a failing downstream device before a full outage occurs.
