Description: Defines VMware vRealize Operations SNMP agent capabilities for performance monitoring compliance.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is VMWARE-VROPS-AGENTCAP-MIB?
VMWARE-VROPS-AGENTCAP-MIB is a VMware agent-capabilities MIB that declares which parts of the associated VMware vRealize Operations (vROps) SNMP MIB a given agent release actually implements. It does not expose runtime operational or performance data itself; instead it is a conformance/compliance declaration tied to specific vROps agent software versions. As such it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software health of a device — it is purely metadata used by management stations to determine feature support before querying the real performance MIB. It is explicitly dependent on the corresponding VMware vROps data MIB, since it only makes sense as a capabilities statement for that module. It would be encountered in virtualization/software-defined datacenter environments running VMware vRealize Operations Manager with SNMP export enabled, where this VMWARE-VROPS-AGENTCAP-MIB reference helps confirm agent feature support before polling the data MIB.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in VMWARE-VROPS-AGENTCAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- VMware vRealize Operations Manager (software agent)
- virtualization management server
Monitoring Examples
This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module rather than a data MIB, so there is no realistic runtime monitoring scenario to describe honestly; the single object vmwVropsCapability is a capability marker used by NMS tooling to detect which vROps agent release/feature set is deployed, not a value that changes with device health or load.

RFC description
VMware MIB module for vRealize/Aria Operations (formerly vRealize Operations Manager), providing SNMP management capability definitions and agent information for monitoring infrastructure through the Operations platform.
Start monitoring VMware vRealize Operations Manager (software agent), virtualization management server (agent-capability conformance declaration, no data objects) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
