What Is Unisphere-Data-V35-MIB?
Unisphere-Data-V35-MIB is a vendor MIB for Unisphere/Juniper ERX edge routers covering V.35 (and X.21) serial WAN interfaces, a physical-layer standard historically used for leased-line and frame relay connections. It exposes a per-interface table with type, mode (DTE/DCE), clock rate, NRZ encoding, transmit clock source, DCD-ignore flag, and loopback control. Its monitoring focus is interface/hardware configuration oriented: confirming the serial line is clocked and framed correctly and detecting when a loopback has been left enabled, which would explain a WAN link appearing down or looping traffic. It relies on standard interface-stack (ifIndex) conventions shared with the IETF IF-MIB to associate V.35 physical settings with the corresponding logical interface. It was deployed on Unisphere/Juniper ERX routers wherever legacy V.35/X.21 serial WAN circuits were still in use for leased-line connectivity. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the Unisphere-Data-V35-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Unisphere-Data-V35-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Juniper/Unisphere ERX edge router with V.35/X.21 serial WAN interfaces
Monitoring Examples
An operator troubleshooting a serial WAN link would check usdV35IfTable/usdV35IfEntry for usdV35IfMode, usdV35IfClockRate, and usdV35IfTxClock to confirm the DTE/DCE clocking configuration matches the far-end device, and check usdV35IfLoopback to rule out a stuck loopback causing the link to appear inactive. usdV35IfIgnoreDcd and usdV35IfNrzEncoding would also be reviewed if framing errors are suspected. A usdV35IfLoopback value left enabled after a maintenance test is a classic cause of an unexpectedly down-looking serial interface.
What Can Be Monitored
- V.35 interface mode (DTE/DCE)
- clock rate and clock source
- loopback status
- NRZ encoding setting
- DCD ignore flag
