Category: Juniper Unisphere ERX Conformance
Description: Defines Unisphere ERX IP policy MIB agent conformance groups and compliance statement objects.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Unisphere-Data-IP-Policy-CONF?
Unisphere-Data-IP-Policy-CONF is a vendor-specific SNMP AGENT-CAPABILITIES module that documents which parts of the companion Unisphere-Data-IP-POLICY-MIB are actually implemented by the SNMP agent on the Unisphere Routing Switch (ERX) family across three successive releases (usdIpPolicyAgentV1/V2/V3). Rather than defining its own managed objects, it declares INCLUDES/VARIATION statements against IP policy groups such as usdIpAccessListGroup, usdIpNamedAccessListGroup, usdIpAspAccessListGroup, usdIpPrefixListGroup, usdIpPrefixTreeGroup, usdIpCommunityListGroup, usdIpExtCommunityListGroup, usdIpRedistributeGroup, and usdIpRouteMapGroup, marking many row-creation objects (e.g. usdIpPrefixListRowStatus, usdIpCommunityListRowStatus, usdIpRedistributeRowStatus) as read-only rather than read-create in the current V3 capability set. This kind of conformance MIB is useful for monitoring tooling that needs to know, per agent version, which IP routing-policy tables (access lists, prefix lists/trees, community lists, redistribution, route maps) can be read versus modified over SNMP. It depends on Unisphere-Data-IP-POLICY-MIB for the actual object definitions and on Unisphere-Data-Agents for its usDataAgents registration point, and is deployed alongside the SNMP agent on Unisphere (later Juniper) ERX Routing Switches — the Unisphere-Data-IP-Policy-CONF MIB is the reference for exactly which policy tables a given ERX software release exposes over SNMP.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Unisphere-Data-IP-Policy-CONF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Unisphere (later Juniper) ERX Routing Switch family
Monitoring Examples
An operator checks which usdIpPolicyAgent capability version (V1/V2/V3) an ERX router reports to determine whether usdIpPrefixListGroup and usdIpRouteMapGroup are supported at all, then confirms usdIpRedistributeRowStatus is read-only under V3 before attempting a route-map SNMP SET; failure of that SET on a V3 agent is expected behavior, not a fault, given the documented VARIATION.
What Can Be Monitored
- agent capability version per ERX software release
- IP access-list / named access-list group support
- prefix-list and prefix-tree group support
- community-list and extended community-list group support
- route redistribution and route-map group support
- read-only vs read-create access variations

RFC description
Agent capabilities for IP Policy component in Unisphere Routing Switch management.
Start monitoring Unisphere (later Juniper) ERX Routing Switch family (IP-policy-agent conformance declaration, no data objects) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
