What Is Unisphere-Data-BRIDGE-ETHERNET-MIB?

Unisphere-Data-BRIDGE-ETHERNET-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Unisphere Networks for the ERX family of routing switches, managing bridged Ethernet interface configuration including MAC address learning, proxy ARP, and the interface's relationship to its underlying (lower) interface layer. It exposes a bridged-Ethernet interface table with per-interface index, proxy ARP setting, lower-layer interface binding, and row status for creating/deleting bridge interface instances. Its monitoring relevance is mainly configuration and interface operational status: an operator can confirm which physical/logical interfaces are configured as bridged Ethernet, whether proxy ARP is enabled, and whether an interface's row is active, which helps troubleshoot bridging or Layer 2 forwarding problems distinct from hardware faults. It is closely tied to the ifTable indexing scheme of the standard IF-MIB, since it references lower-layer ifIndex values and its own bridged interface ifIndex. It is typically deployed on Unisphere ERX broadband routing switches used by service providers for subscriber Ethernet bridging and aggregation. Engineers can download the Unisphere-Data-BRIDGE-ETHERNET-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Unisphere-Data-BRIDGE-ETHERNET-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Unisphere Networks ERX broadband routing switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator can walk usdBridgedEthernetIfTable and inspect each usdBridgedEthernetIfEntry's usdBridgedEthernetIfIfIndex alongside usdBridgedEthernetIfLowerIfIndex to confirm which bridged interface maps to which underlying physical interface. usdBridgedEthernetIfRowStatus reveals whether a given bridged interface entry is active, notInService, or being created/destroyed, useful when provisioning or troubleshooting a new subscriber bridge interface. usdBridgedEthernetProxyArp shows whether proxy ARP is enabled on an interface, and an unexpected setting here could explain ARP resolution failures for hosts behind the bridge.

What Can Be Monitored

  • bridged Ethernet interface mapping
  • lower-layer interface binding
  • interface row/provisioning status
  • proxy ARP setting
