Category: ATM and WAN Transport

Description: Manages X.25 packet-switched network interface parameters and virtual circuit statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is UX25-MIB?

UX25-MIB is a proprietary US Robotics (usr/nas branch) MIB for managing X.25 packet-switched network interfaces, covering administrative channel configuration and virtual-circuit parameters. It exposes a channel table describing network mode, X.25 protocol version, interface mode, and permanent virtual circuit (PVC) numbering ranges (lowest/highest PVC values) along with logical/high channel range identifiers (LIC/HIC/LTC/HTC). Its monitoring focus is software/protocol configuration status of the X.25 link layer — confirming each channel is configured with the correct protocol version, interface mode, and PVC range — rather than general device hardware health, though correctly functioning channel configuration is a prerequisite for the underlying physical WAN interface to pass traffic. It relies on standard X.25 concepts (as historically covered by RFC 1382, the X.25 Packet Layer MIB) while defining USR-specific administrative extensions. It would be deployed on legacy US Robotics/3Com WAN access equipment (network access servers) providing X.25 packet-switched connectivity. Engineers can download the UX25-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in UX25-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • US Robotics (nas/usr) X.25 network access server

Monitoring Examples

An admin would walk ux25AdmnChannelTable (ux25AdmnChannelEntry rows keyed by ux25AdmnChanneIndex) to check ux25AdmnNetMode and ux25AdmnProtocolVersion for each channel, confirming the interface is configured to match the carrier's X.25 network requirements. ux25AdmnLowestPVCVal and ux25AdmnHighestPVCVal define the permanent virtual circuit numbering range in use, while ux25AdmnChannelLIC/HIC/LTC/HTC configure the logical and terminal channel number ranges; a channel whose configured PVC range doesn't match what the X.25 network expects would show up as failed circuit establishment.

What Can Be Monitored

  • X.25 channel protocol version
  • network/interface mode configuration
  • PVC numbering range (low/high)
  • logical and terminal channel number ranges
