What Is TWTRAP-MIB?

TWTRAP-MIB is a vendor MIB that defines a set of SNMP trap/notification objects for a family of network devices ('TW'-branded) to report fault conditions and status changes. Rather than exposing pollable data tables, its content is a set of notification definitions, so its "data" category is fault/event reporting rather than performance counters or configuration state. Its monitoring value lies squarely in hardware/software status alerting: it lets a device push real-time notifications about faults or state transitions (e.g., a hardware failure or reboot) to a network management station instead of requiring polling. It is built on the standard SNMPv2 notification framework and the standard OID registration tree (mgmt, enterprises), rather than depending on other feature-specific MIBs. It is deployed on TW-branded network devices that send fault/status-change traps to a central network management system in enterprise monitoring setups. Engineers can download the TWTRAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TWTRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • device fault trap notifications
  • status change trap notifications

Supported Devices

  • TW-branded network device (vendor unspecified)

Monitoring Examples

The sample objects available for this module (mgmt, directory, experimental, private, enterprises, mib-2) are standard SNMP OID-tree registration points rather than device-specific data objects, confirming this module is primarily a trap/notification-definition MIB. In practice, a network management station would register to receive its traps to be alerted in real time to a fault or status-change event, such as a device reboot or hardware failure, rather than polling for a value.
