Description: Manages TippingPoint IPS feature license entitlements, expiration dates, and activation status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TPT-LICENSE-MIB?
TPT-LICENSE-MIB is a Trend Micro (TippingPoint) MIB used to manage and monitor software feature licensing on TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention System appliances. It exposes a table of licensed features along with each entry's activation status, expiration date, and available management actions, so it is primarily a configuration/entitlement MIB rather than a performance or physical-hardware one. Its monitoring value is in tracking software status: administrators use it to verify which security features are currently licensed and active, and to catch licenses that are expired or about to lapse before a protected capability (such as a threat-filter package) silently stops functioning. It belongs to the same TPT-prefixed MIB family as TPT-COMPACT-FLASH-MIB, sharing the vendor's device-status conventions. It is deployed on TippingPoint IPS appliances in enterprise and carrier security operations where license compliance and continuity of protection must be actively tracked. Engineers can download the TPT-LICENSE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TPT-LICENSE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) appliance
Monitoring Examples
The licenseTable/licenseEntry rows, indexed by licenseEntryIndex, list each licenseEntryFeature along with its licenseEntryStatus and licenseEntryExpiry. An admin polling this table can spot a feature whose licenseEntryStatus has gone inactive or whose licenseEntryExpiry is imminent, prompting renewal before the associated protection (e.g., a threat filter or update service) stops working; licenseEntryDetails and licenseEntryAction provide further descriptive information and a way to trigger license actions remotely.
What Can Be Monitored
- licensed feature list
- license activation status
- license expiration date
- license details/action state
