Description: Manages TippingPoint IPS compact flash storage capacity, usage, and health status monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TPT-COMPACT-FLASH-MIB?

TPT-COMPACT-FLASH-MIB is a Trend Micro (TippingPoint) MIB that reports on the compact flash storage module installed in TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention System appliances. It exposes hardware inventory and status data including whether the flash card is present, mounted, and formatted, along with its capacity, model, serial number, and revision. This makes it a hardware health MIB in the truest sense: it lets an operator confirm the storage device backing logging, configuration, or packet-capture functions is physically installed and in a usable state. It is one of several TPT-prefixed MIBs from the same vendor family (alongside licensing and other device-status MIBs) that together describe the health of a TippingPoint appliance. It is deployed on TippingPoint IPS appliances in enterprise and service-provider network security environments where storage failures need to be caught proactively. Engineers can download the TPT-COMPACT-FLASH-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TPT-COMPACT-FLASH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • TippingPoint Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) appliance

Monitoring Examples

An admin can poll compactFlashPresent and compactFlashMounted to confirm the CF card is installed and currently mounted by the operating system, and compactFlashFormatted together with capacity to verify it is ready to accept data. The tptCompactFlashDeviceID and tptCompactFlashDeviceStatus objects identify the specific flash device and its health state, so a status value indicating not-present, unmounted, or a fault would flag a failed or removed flash module that needs replacement before logging or updates fail.

What Can Be Monitored

  • compact flash presence
  • mount status
  • format status
  • operation mode
  • storage capacity
  • device status
