This read-only bitmask reports defect conditions detected on a protection-path MEP: protectionTypeMismatch(0) or revertModeMismatch(1), meaning the two ends disagree on protection architecture or revertive behavior. Admins check it when protection switching isn't behaving as configured, since a mismatch here directly explains why the two ends of a protected LSP might not coordinate correctly. Both bits can be set simultaneously if both kinds of mismatch are present.
