Description: Manages Transition Networks LACP aggregation port configuration and protocol state.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TN-LACP-MIB?
TN-LACP-MIB is a Transition Networks proprietary module for configuring and monitoring Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) on their switch products. It exposes per-port LACP configuration data (admin mode, key mode, admin key, port priority, timeout) as well as system-level aggregation status showing which aggregator ID a port group has formed. Its monitoring value lies in verifying the operational status of link aggregation groups so that administrators can detect a port that has failed to join its expected aggregate, which could otherwise silently reduce available bandwidth or create asymmetric forwarding. It is a vendor-specific complement to the standardized IEEE 802.3ad (dot3ad) aggregation MIB and is often used alongside IF-MIB for underlying interface statistics. It is deployed in switch-to-switch or switch-to-server uplinks where multiple physical links are bundled for redundancy and increased throughput. Engineers can download the TN-LACP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TN-LACP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Transition Networks managed Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll tnLacpConfigPortTable to confirm tnLacpConfigPortDot3adAggrActorAdminMode is enabled on all intended trunk ports and check tnLacpConfigPortDot3adAggrRole and tnLacpConfigPortDot3adAggrTimeout for consistency across the aggregation group. Checking tnLacpStatusSystemTable's tnLacpStatusSystemDot3adAggrID reveals whether ports that should be bundled together actually share the same aggregator ID; a port reporting a different or null aggregator ID indicates it has dropped out of the LACP bundle, signaling a possible cable, negotiation, or peer-configuration fault.
What Can Be Monitored
- LACP admin mode per port
- LACP actor key and priority
- LACP timeout setting
- aggregation group role
- aggregator ID membership

RFC description
Transition Networks vendor-specific SNMP MIB for managing Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) IEEE 802.3ad port grouping, enabling bundling of multiple physical interfaces into logical link aggregation groups for increased bandwidth and redundancy.
Start monitoring Transition Networks managed Ethernet switch (LACP per-port config/aggregator status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
