Description: Manages Transition Networks DHCP server pool configuration, leases, and exclusion ranges.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TN-DHCP-SERVER-MIB?

TN-DHCP-SERVER-MIB is a Transition Networks proprietary SNMP MIB for configuring and monitoring the device's built-in DHCP server function, including per-VLAN enable/disable mode and IP-address exclusion ranges that keep certain addresses out of the assigned pool. It exposes a global mode switch, a per-VLAN configuration table, and an exclusion-range table with configurable low/high IP boundaries and an associated action. While primarily a configuration MIB, it supports monitoring the software status of the DHCP service: whether DHCP serving is enabled globally and per-VLAN, essential to confirm the service is active where expected. There is no explicit dependency on other MIBs evident, though it naturally complements the companion TN-DHCP-SNOOPING-MIB for full DHCP visibility on the same switch. It is deployed on Transition Networks managed switches used as edge DHCP servers in small enterprise or industrial network segments. Engineers can download the TN-DHCP-SERVER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TN-DHCP-SERVER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Transition Networks managed switch with embedded DHCP server

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls tnDhcpServerConfigGlobalsMode and, per interface, tnDhcpServerConfigVlanTable/tnDhcpServerConfigVlanEntry's tnDhcpServerConfigVlanMode to confirm DHCP serving is enabled on the intended VLANs. tnDhcpServerConfigExcludedTable/tnDhcpServerConfigExcludedEntry is checked to verify tnDhcpServerConfigExcludedLowIpAddress/HighIpAddress ranges correctly reserve statically-assigned addresses out of the dynamic pool, catching a misconfiguration that could cause an IP address conflict.

What Can Be Monitored

  • global DHCP server mode
  • per-VLAN DHCP mode
  • excluded IP address ranges
  • exclusion action
