tmnxPtpTimeUsePtp
Module: TIMETRA-SAS-SYSTEM-MIB
OID (symbolic): TIMETRA-SAS-SYSTEM-MIB::tmnxPtpTimeUsePtp
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.6.2.2.2.5.21.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: TmnxPtpTime
Access: read-write
Description: If this object is configured with 'system', ptp derived time (in UTC timescale) is used for all the system applications that need time, including the timestamps needed for OAM tools. If configured with 'oam', the system will use the PTP derived time (in UTC timescale) for only the timestamps needed by OAM. By default NTP derived time is used for all system applications. If NTP is not configured, then the system RTC is used for obtaining timestmaps in UTC timescale for all system applications
What is tmnxPtpTimeUsePtp?
Controls which time source is used for system timestamps: 'system' uses PTP-derived UTC time for all applications including OAM, 'oam' uses PTP time only for OAM timestamps, and the default (no PTP) falls back to NTP-derived time, or the system RTC if NTP isn't configured. Admins set this to 'system' or 'oam' on deployments needing PTP's higher timestamp precision for OAM tools, rather than relying on NTP's typically looser accuracy.
