Description: TIMETRA-LMP-MIB module
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TIMETRA-LMP-MIB?
TIMETRA-LMP-MIB is a Nokia (formerly Alcatel-Lucent) proprietary SNMP module for the SR OS operating system, part of the TIMETRA enterprise MIB family used on 7750/7450/7250 routers. It exposes configuration and operational state for the Link Management Protocol (LMP), a GMPLS control-plane protocol that verifies control-channel connectivity and correlates data-link properties between neighboring optical/packet nodes on a per-virtual-router basis. Administrators use it to monitor administrative and operational state of LMP instances and peer relationships, effectively tracking whether the control-plane link-management session to a neighbor is up or down. Because LMP underpins GMPLS-based transport signaling, this MIB is typically polled alongside other TIMETRA GMPLS/MPLS MIBs (e.g. TE, RSVP) rather than in isolation. It is deployed on carrier-grade Nokia SROS routers/optical-transport edge nodes in GMPLS-enabled backbone or metro networks, and the TIMETRA-LMP-MIB download lets administrators load it directly into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TIMETRA-LMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Nokia 7750 SR / 7450 ESS / 7250 IXR routers running SR OS
- GMPLS-enabled optical/packet transport nodes
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll tmnxLmpVRtrTable/tmnxLmpVRtrEntry to see per-virtual-router LMP administrative (tmnxLmpVRtrAdminState) and operational (tmnxLmpVRtrOperState) state, flagging a mismatch (admin up, oper down) as a control-channel failure to a peer. The tmnxLmpVRtrPeerTable lists discovered LMP peers, letting an admin confirm that a router's configured GMPLS loopback address (tmnxLmpVRtrGmplsLoopbackAddress) is correctly forming adjacencies. Polling tmnxLmpVRtrTableLastChanged/tmnxLmpVRtrLastChanged timestamps helps detect recent reconfiguration events that could correlate with a link-management outage.
What Can Be Monitored
- LMP admin/operational state per virtual router
- LMP peer adjacency table
- GMPLS loopback address configuration
- control-channel last-changed timestamps
