Description: Defines Teldat router TNIP (tunnel IP) event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-TNIP-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-TNIP-MIB is a Teldat enterprise MIB defining SNMP trap notifications for the TNIP (tunnel IP) subsystem on Teldat routers, which handles IP tunneling events such as VPN or GRE-style tunnel establishment. It exposes trap varbinds describing the encapsulation protocol (string and numeric external protocol identifiers), source and destination IP addresses of the tunnel endpoints, and the interface involved. This is a fault/event-oriented MIB used for software-status monitoring of tunnel health: it lets an administrator detect when a tunnel interface event occurs, such as a tunnel coming up, going down, or encountering a protocol mismatch, by inspecting the reported endpoint addresses and interface. It shares the common TELDAT-TRAP-* notification framework with sibling MIBs like TELDAT-TRAP-HTTP-MIB and TELDAT-TRAP-NTP-MIB. It is deployed on Teldat routers running IP tunneling services in branch and WAN edge networks. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-TNIP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-TNIP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router

Monitoring Examples

When a TNIP trap fires, an operator reads tnip1-source-ip-address and tnip1-destination-ip-address alongside tnip1-interface to identify which tunnel and interface triggered the event, and checks tnip1-str-enc-protocol / tnip1-num-external-protocol to confirm the expected encapsulation protocol was used. Repeated traps referencing the same tnip2-source-ip-address / tnip2-destination-ip-address pair would suggest a flapping or misconfigured tunnel endpoint.

What Can Be Monitored

  • tunnel source/destination IP address
  • tunnel interface
  • encapsulation protocol identifier
  • tunnel event notifications
