Description: Defines Teldat router TIPS protocol event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-TIPS-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-TIPS-MIB is a Teldat proprietary MIB defining SNMP trap notifications generated by the TIPS (Teldat traffic inspection/security feature) event subsystem on Teldat routers. Like its ISDN counterpart, it is fault/security-event oriented rather than a polled-data MIB, carrying variable bindings such as source/destination IP addresses, MAC addresses, ingress interface, and event state/message text across six numbered TIPS event instances. Its monitoring value is centered on security and connection-state faults -- alerting an operator in real time to suspicious traffic patterns, state changes, or flagged source/destination pairs detected by the router's inline inspection feature, rather than hardware sensor data. It is a vendor-specific companion to Teldat's TIPS security feature and the broader Teldat private MIB tree, with no direct standards dependency evident. It is typically deployed on Teldat routers with TIPS security inspection enabled, feeding traps into a network security/event management console. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-TIPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-TIPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router with TIPS security inspection enabled

Monitoring Examples

A management station subscribed to tipsNotifications would receive traps carrying tips4_source_ip and tips4_destination_ip whenever the TIPS engine flags a suspicious flow, and tips6_mac_src/tips6_mac_dst alongside tips6_ip_src/tips6_ip_dst for events tied to a specific link-layer/network-layer address pair. tips3_state reports a state transition in the TIPS engine relevant to a tracked session, and tips2_msg carries a human-readable description of the event. As with the ISDN trap MIB, there is no pollable status table here -- monitoring consists entirely of capturing and correlating these traps as they arrive.

What Can Be Monitored

  • flagged source/destination IP pairs
  • flagged source/destination MAC pairs
  • TIPS engine state transitions
  • ingress interface of flagged traffic
  • TIPS event messages
