Description: Defines Teldat router TCP event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-TCP-MIB?

This is a Teldat private MIB that defines SNMP trap/notification definitions for TCP-layer events generated by the router's TCP protocol stack, part of Teldat's family of event-notification MIBs. Unlike a typical polled MIB, it is built entirely around fault/event data: each notification carries varbinds describing the TCP event, such as checksum status and the connection's source/destination IP addresses and ports. Its monitoring emphasis is purely on faults/traps rather than hardware or performance counters: it lets an operator get proactively alerted to TCP-layer anomalies like checksum errors as they happen, rather than having to poll for them. It complements the standard TCP-MIB (RFC 4022) tcpConnTable by providing supplementary trap notifications tied to the connections that MIB describes. It is deployed on Teldat routers where operators want proactive TCP-layer fault alerting configured in their trap-receiving network management system. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-TCP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-TCP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router

Monitoring Examples

The tcpNotifications group defines traps carrying varbinds like tcp1-tcp-checksum for reporting a checksum mismatch, and tcp2-/tcp3-/tcp4-prefixed varbinds carrying source and destination IP address and TCP port identifying the connection involved in each event. An admin would configure their trap receiver to alert on a spike in checksum-error notifications, which would reveal a faulty NIC or a misbehaving TCP stack on a peer device. Because this MIB is notification-oriented, its value comes from receiving traps rather than periodically polling a table.

What Can Be Monitored

  • TCP checksum error events
  • TCP connection source/destination IP and port
