What Is TELDAT-TRAP-ICM6-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-ICM6-MIB is a Teldat enterprise MIB that defines SNMP notification objects generated by the ICM6 (ICMPv6) event subsystem on Teldat routers, the IPv6 counterpart to Teldat's ARP trap MIB. It defines a family of numbered ICMPv6 event traps (icm61 through icm65) carrying varbinds such as source/destination IPv6 addresses, ICMPv6 header length, and packet type. It is used purely for fault/event monitoring, alerting operators to IPv6 ICMP-layer anomalies — such as unusual ICMPv6 packet types indicating possible attacks or misconfigurations — in real time rather than exposing continuously polled hardware metrics. It depends on the ICMPv6 protocol standard (RFC 4443) for its packet-type and header semantics, and on Teldat's own enterprise notification-prefix conventions. It is typically deployed on Teldat routers in IPv6-enabled networks where operators want proactive, trap-driven alerting on ICMPv6-layer events. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-ICM6-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-ICM6-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat routers (IPv6-enabled)

Monitoring Examples

This MIB is trap-driven rather than polled: when a Teldat router observes a notable ICMPv6 event it emits a notification built from values such as icm63-source-ip6-address, icm63-destination-ip6-address, and icm63-icmp6-packet-type, letting an NMS log which IPv6 endpoints and packet type triggered the event. Repeated traps referencing the same source/destination pair, or an unusual icm6*-packet-type value, could indicate IPv6 reconnaissance, misconfiguration, or a developing network fault on that path.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ICMPv6 event notifications by interface
  • ICMPv6 packet type
  • source/destination IPv6 addresses in events
  • ICMPv6 header length anomalies
