Description: Defines Teldat router SSH (Secure Shell) event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-SSH-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-SSH-MIB is a Teldat vendor MIB defining SNMP trap notifications generated by the router's SSH (Secure Shell) management subsystem. It exposes only event/fault data across numbered variants (ssh2 through ssh10), including descriptive text, task identifiers, error strings, and host-key type/description fields, with no configuration or session-count tables. Its role is to monitor the software status of the SSH service -- surfacing connection errors, task failures, and host key changes that could indicate a misconfiguration, an authentication failure, or a potential security event such as a host key rotation or mismatch. It depends on Teldat's proprietary SSH implementation and trap framework rather than a shared IETF SSH MIB standard. It is deployed on Teldat routers where SSH is used for secure remote management, monitored via an SNMP trap receiver for security and operational alerting, and administrators can get the TELDAT-TRAP-SSH-MIB download to configure this alerting.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-SSH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat routers
  • Teldat WAN/branch access routers

Monitoring Examples

ssh5-error paired with ssh5-task reports the specific task and error condition when an SSH operation fails, while ssh9-hostkey-type and ssh9-description flag a host key event such as a key type change. A security-conscious admin would alert on any ssh9/ssh10 hostkey-type trap as a possible man-in-the-middle indicator or legitimate key rotation needing verification, and would investigate repeated ssh5-error traps as a sign of misconfigured or failing SSH sessions. This MIB carries no pollable counters, so all insight comes from the trap stream itself.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SSH task/error events
  • SSH failure descriptions
  • host key type changes
  • host key description/fingerprint events
  • security-relevant SSH alerts
