Description: Defines Teldat router SL (serial line) interface event trap notifications.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TELDAT-TRAP-SL-MIB?
TELDAT-TRAP-SL-MIB is a Teldat enterprise MIB module that defines SNMP trap notifications generated by the Serial Line (SL) event subsystem on Teldat routers. It exposes no polled runtime tables of its own; instead it defines a family of notification (trap) objects carrying diagnostic variables such as interface identifiers, protocol/opcode fields, and frame length parameters tied to serial-line events. Its primary monitoring value is fault and status detection: it lets a management station learn asynchronously when a serial interface changes state, negotiates a protocol, or reports a length mismatch, which is useful for spotting flapping or misconfigured WAN links. It builds on the standard SNMPv2 notification framework (SNMPv2-TC/SNMPv2-CONF) used across Teldat's TRAP-family MIBs. It is typically deployed alongside core Teldat router MIBs in an NMS trap receiver configured to alert on serial-line faults in branch or WAN-edge routers. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-SL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-SL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Teldat router (serial/WAN interface modules)
Monitoring Examples
The module defines notification objects such as sl1-interface, sl4-actual-length, sl4-claimed-length, sl5-opcode, and sl6-protocol, each carried inside a distinct SL trap (sl1 through sl8) rather than being polled from a table. An administrator's trap receiver would log an sl4 trap showing a mismatch between sl4-actual-length and sl4-claimed-length to flag a corrupted or misframed serial link, or an sl6 trap reporting an unexpected sl6-protocol value on a given sl6-interface to catch a serial-line configuration error. There is no GET-able status table here; all monitoring is event-driven through slNotifications.
What Can Be Monitored
- serial line interface identity per event
- frame length actual vs claimed
- serial line protocol/opcode on state change
- occurrence of SL subsystem fault events

| slEventObjects32 | 1.3.6.1.4.1.2007.1.4.83.1.32 | Event SL.32 The allocation of a packet buffer for a DNX 300 serial line failed. This may be due to a shortage of either buffer memory or heap memory. (See the output of ELS messages GW.061, GW.063, and GW.064). The interface will still try and come up, but with a reduced number of receive packet buffers. | ||

Since all of the receive buffers for a DNX 300 serial line must be in the same 64 Kbyte buffer memory packet, that buffer will be ignored, and no further buffers will be allocated for the device. The interface will still try and come up, but with a reduced number of receive packet buffers. | ||
