What Is TELDAT-TRAP-SCAD-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-SCAD-MIB is a Teldat-specific notification-only MIB defining SNMP traps generated by the router's SCADA (industrial control protocol) event subsystem, referred to as SCAD, used when the router serves as a gateway or relay for SCADA serial/IP traffic. It contains no polled data tables, only numbered trap definitions (scad1 through scad4 in the sample set) carrying varbinds like interface, byte counts, serial address, bad address, state, and a free-text comment/cause field. Its monitoring value is fault/event-oriented: these traps notify an operator of SCADA link or protocol anomalies, such as bad addressing or state changes, which is important in industrial environments where SCADA connectivity failures can affect physical process control. It depends on the underlying SCADA gateway/relay functionality and the specific serial or IP interfaces carrying that traffic. It is deployed on Teldat routers used as SCADA protocol gateways in industrial, utility, or remote telemetry network deployments, where engineers typically start with a TELDAT-TRAP-SCAD-MIB download to load the trap definitions into their SNMP management platform.

Monitoring Examples

As a trap-only MIB with no data tables, monitoring means capturing events at an SNMP trap receiver: scad2-serrial-address together with scad2-state and scad2-bytes-number reports the serial device address, its current state, and traffic volume, useful for detecting a SCADA endpoint that has gone silent or is in an unexpected state. scad3-bad-addr and scad3-interface would flag a specific interface receiving traffic from or destined to an invalid SCADA address, indicating a misconfiguration or corrupted frame. scad4-cause and scad4-state provide a cause code and resulting state for a given SCADA event, useful for root-causing an outage on the industrial link. scadEventsGroup defines the overall set of SCADA-related trap events the device can emit.
