Category: Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications

Description: Defines Teldat router RAD (RADIUS) authentication event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-RAD-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-RAD-MIB is a Teldat proprietary, notification-only SNMP MIB that defines the trap varbinds emitted by the router's RAD (RADIUS) authentication event subsystem. It groups numbered event definitions (rad1 through rad3, under radEventsGroup/radNotifications) carrying the RADIUS server address, a request/packet identifier, a service-code field, and the affected interface. Operationally it is a fault/event monitor for the authentication software path: it lets a management station learn asynchronously about RADIUS transactions per interface, which is useful for diagnosing authentication failures traced to a specific RADIUS server becoming unreachable or slow, or for correlating a failed login attempt with its originating interface and server. As with Teldat's other TRAP-* modules it depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI/SNMPv2-TC notification conventions and Teldat's private enterprise OID tree, layered on top of the IETF RADIUS standard (RFC 2865) it interoperates with. It is deployed on Teldat routers using RADIUS for remote-access or 802.1X authentication, where central visibility into authentication-server behavior is needed. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-RAD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-RAD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only notification objects and their varbinds rather than a polled transaction table, so there is no GET-based monitoring scenario; it is trap-only. An SNMP trap receiver would inspect rad2-addr-rad-serv and rad2-interface together with rad2-id/rad2-servc to identify which RADIUS server, interface, and service were involved in a specific authentication event.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RADIUS server address per authentication transaction
  • RADIUS request identifier and service-code events
  • per-interface RADIUS transaction events
