Description: Defines Teldat router PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-PPP-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-PPP-MIB is a Teldat-specific notification-only MIB defining SNMP traps generated by the router's PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) event subsystem, used on serial, ISDN, and other point-to-point WAN links. It contains no polled data tables, only numbered trap definitions (ppp1 through ppp6 in the sample set) carrying varbinds like interface, link name, MRU (maximum receive unit), negotiated size, action taken, sequence, and classes. Its monitoring value is fault/event-oriented: these traps notify an operator of PPP link negotiation and state events, useful for diagnosing WAN link flapping, negotiation mismatches, or unexpected link actions. It depends on the underlying PPP protocol stack and the physical/logical interfaces it runs over. It is deployed on Teldat routers with PPP-encapsulated WAN links in enterprise or carrier access networks. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the TELDAT-TRAP-PPP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-PPP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router with PPP-encapsulated WAN interfaces

Monitoring Examples

As a trap-only MIB with no data tables, monitoring means capturing events at an SNMP trap receiver: ppp3-linkPPP together with ppp3-size and ppp3-MRU would report a link's negotiated frame size versus its configured MRU, useful for spotting an MTU/MRU mismatch causing fragmentation issues. ppp4-linkPPP and ppp4-action would report a specific action taken on a PPP link (such as a renegotiation or reset), while ppp1-interface and ppp2-interface identify which physical interface generated a simpler link event. Frequent PPP traps on the same interface would point to an unstable WAN link or a peer-side configuration problem. pppEventsGroup defines the overall set of PPP trap events the device can emit.
