Description: Defines Teldat router NBS protocol event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-NBS-MIB?

This Teldat-proprietary MIB defines SNMP trap notifications for the NBS (NetBIOS-related) protocol subsystem on Teldat routers. It exposes event data identifying the source and destination NetBIOS names and MAC addresses involved in each NBS-related event, letting administrators trace which hosts triggered a given notification. It functions purely as a software/protocol event monitor - it does not expose hardware sensor data - and is used to flag NetBIOS naming or traffic-forwarding anomalies as they occur rather than through periodic polling. It has no apparent formal dependency beyond the standard SNMP notification framework and Teldat's own MIB naming conventions. It is typically deployed on Teldat routers bridging or filtering legacy NetBIOS/NetBEUI traffic in enterprise LAN environments. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the TELDAT-TRAP-NBS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-NBS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would inspect nbs1-source-nbname and nbs1-source-macaddr alongside nbs1-dest-nbname and nbs1-dest-macaddr to identify which two NetBIOS hosts were involved in a flagged event, such as a name conflict or unexpected broadcast. Comparable object sets (nbs2-*, nbs3-*) correspond to different NBS event types, letting the trap receiver distinguish, for example, a duplicate-name event from a routing anomaly. Since NBS traffic is broadcast-heavy, these traps are often used to catch misbehaving legacy hosts flooding a segment.

What Can Be Monitored
