Category: Teldat Router Management, Teldat Trap Notifications
Description: Defines Teldat router EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol) event trap notifications.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is TELDAT-TRAP-EAP-MIB?
TELDAT-TRAP-EAP-MIB is a Teldat proprietary, notification-only SNMP MIB that defines the trap varbinds emitted by the router's EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol) event subsystem, relevant to 802.1X-style port authentication. It groups numbered event definitions (eap1 through eap3, under eapEventsGroup/eapNotifications) carrying the EAP code and type as strings, packet identifier, packet length, an internal EAP control-state field, and a retry counter. Operationally it is a fault/event monitor for the authentication software path: it lets a management station learn asynchronously about EAP packet exchanges and, notably, rising retry counts (eap3-retry-count), which typically signal a supplicant or authentication-server problem preventing successful 802.1X authentication. As with Teldat's other TRAP-* modules it depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI/SNMPv2-TC notification conventions and Teldat's private enterprise OID tree, and complements RADIUS-related monitoring elsewhere in the Teldat MIB set. It is deployed on Teldat routers/switches enforcing port-based network access control, where failed or retried EAP exchanges need to be flagged for the security team. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-EAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-EAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Teldat router
- Teldat switch with 802.1X port authentication
Monitoring Examples
This module defines only notification objects and their varbinds rather than a polled counter table, so there is no GET-based monitoring scenario; it is trap-only. An SNMP trap receiver would inspect eap1-code-string/eap1-type-string together with eap1-identificer and eap1-length to identify a specific EAP packet event, and watch eap3-retry-count climb to detect a client repeatedly failing to complete authentication.
What Can Be Monitored
- EAP authentication packet code/type events
- EAP retry-count/retransmission events
