Description: Defines Teldat router DNSU (DNS update) event trap notifications.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-DNSU-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-DNSU-MIB is a Teldat (Spanish router vendor) MIB defining SNMP trap notifications generated by the router's DNSU (Dynamic DNS Update) event subsystem, which handles automatic registration of the router's changing IP address with a dynamic DNS service. It exposes a series of numbered trap definitions carrying event-specific varbinds such as entry identifiers, last/new IP addresses, protocol used, and error/message identifiers. Its monitoring purpose is software/service status of the DDNS feature: traps reveal when a dynamic DNS update succeeds, fails, or changes the registered address, letting an administrator confirm the router's public-facing hostname stays correctly mapped to its current IP, particularly important after a WAN IP address change on a dynamic-IP connection. It is a self-contained vendor trap MIB tied to Teldat's proprietary DNSU feature rather than any IETF DNS MIB standard. It is deployed on Teldat routers using dynamic DNS to maintain reachable hostnames on connections with non-static IP addresses, such as small-office/branch WAN links. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-DNSU-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-DNSU-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat router

Monitoring Examples

When a DDNS update occurs, a trap such as one carrying dnsu3-entry-id, dnsu3-last-ip-address, and dnsu3-new-ip-address would notify the management station that the router's public IP address changed and was re-registered with the dynamic DNS provider. A dnsu1-error trap or a dnsu7-message-identifier value indicating failure would instead alert the admin that the DNS update attempt failed, meaning the hostname may no longer resolve to the router's current address until the issue (e.g., dnsu5-protocol misconfiguration) is resolved.

What Can Be Monitored

  • dynamic DNS update success/failure
  • last and new registered IP address
  • DNSU protocol used
  • DNSU error/message identifiers
