Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TELDAT-TRAP-AINS-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-AINS-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Teldat defining SNMP trap notifications generated by the router's AINS (Auto-Install/Auto-In-Service) subsystem, which handles automated zero-touch provisioning of a device via BOOTP/TFTP. It is a notifications-only module, exposing trap variable bindings such as auto-install mode, interface, BOOTP data, and TFTP server/file details rather than polled runtime tables. Its monitoring purpose is fault/event visibility into the software provisioning process: it lets a management station be alerted in real time when a device enters auto-install mode, attempts to fetch a boot file from a TFTP server, or encounters an issue such as a bad packet or DLCI, which is critical for detecting failed or stalled zero-touch deployments. It depends on the AINS subsystem's own state machine within Teldat router software rather than on other standard MIBs. It is typically deployed in large-scale Teldat router rollouts where devices are remotely and automatically provisioned via BOOTP/TFTP over WAN links. Engineers can download the TELDAT-TRAP-AINS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-AINS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat enterprise/carrier routers

Monitoring Examples

A monitoring system would receive traps carrying variables like ains1-AutoInstall-Mode and ains3-Interface to learn that a device has entered auto-install mode on a given interface, and ains4-BOOTP-Data plus ains5-File / ains5-TFTP-server to see which configuration file and server the device is attempting to fetch. A trap referencing ains8-dlci and ains8-type alongside ains8-Local-address/ains8-Management-address would indicate a Frame Relay-related provisioning step, useful for diagnosing a stalled zero-touch deployment.
