What Is TELDAT-TRAP-AAA-MIB?

TELDAT-TRAP-AAA-MIB is a Teldat, S.A. vendor-specific MIB defining the SNMP notification objects generated by the AAA (authentication, authorization, and accounting) event subsystem on Teldat routers, mirroring the structure of Teldat's other trap-only MIBs such as TELDAT-TRAP-SPI-MIB and TELDAT-TRAP-CNSL-MIB. It models discrete AAA events — such as authentication success/failure, authorization decisions, and accounting record generation — as OBJECT-IDENTITY event groups with associated parameter objects (e.g., user name, server address, failure reason) that populate the corresponding NOTIFICATION-TYPE definitions. Because it is trap-only, its monitoring value comes from correlating received AAA notifications against expected login/authorization activity to detect repeated authentication failures, unreachable AAA servers, or unexpected accounting gaps that could signal a misconfigured RADIUS/TACACS+ integration or a brute-force access attempt. It depends on the base TELDAT-MIB for its telEventTraps registration point and is deployed on Teldat routers that use centralized AAA services for administrative or subscriber access control; administrators can download the TELDAT-TRAP-AAA-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser and configure trap handling for AAA events.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TELDAT-TRAP-AAA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Teldat routers

Monitoring Examples

An operator's trap receiver watches for repeated AAA authentication-failure notifications tied to the same user name or source address across a short window; a burst of such traps without any matching successful-authentication trap would indicate a brute-force login attempt or a misconfigured AAA client on the router.

What Can Be Monitored

  • authentication success/failure events
  • authorization decision events
  • accounting record generation events
  • AAA server reachability/response events
  • per-event user and server identity parameters
