Category: Storage

Description: Monitors Synology NAS RAID array status, disk membership, degraded state, and rebuild progress.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SYNOLOGY-RAID-MIB?

SYNOLOGY-RAID-MIB is a Synology enterprise MIB for the RAID subsystem on Synology network-attached storage (NAS) appliances. It exposes a table describing each configured RAID array, including its name and current status. Its monitoring value is squarely on storage/disk hardware health: the array status object reveals whether a RAID volume is healthy, degraded, or crashed, letting an administrator catch a failed member disk before data loss occurs. It is part of Synology's enterprise MIB tree and is commonly polled alongside Synology's other disk- and system-health MIBs for a complete storage health picture. It is typically deployed on Synology DiskStation or RackStation NAS units in small-business or enterprise storage environments, making SYNOLOGY-RAID-MIB SNMP monitoring a standard safeguard against undetected array degradation.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SYNOLOGY-RAID-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Synology NAS appliances (DiskStation/RackStation)

Monitoring Examples

raidTable/raidEntry rows, indexed by raidIndex, expose raidName and raidStatus for each configured RAID array. An administrator would poll raidStatus across all entries to catch a transition from a healthy state to 'degraded' or 'crashed.' Such a change reveals that a member disk has failed and the array needs a rebuild or disk replacement to restore full redundancy.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RAID array name
  • RAID array status (normal/degraded/crashed)
  • RAID array index/identification
