Description: Manages Sonus Networks channel-associated signaling configuration for TDM trunk interfaces and signaling variants.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SONUS-CAS-MIB?

SONUS-CAS-MIB is a vendor MIB from Sonus Networks (a softswitch/media gateway vendor, later part of Ribbon Communications) for managing Channel-Associated Signaling (CAS) service groups used in TDM trunk signaling. It exposes configuration for CAS service groups, including signal type, hunt algorithm, trunk group association, cost, and ingress/egress signaling system point (SSP) settings, managed through an administrative table. Its monitoring value is primarily configuration/service-status oriented: administrators verify a CAS service group's signal type and hunt algorithm are correctly provisioned, and track service group state to confirm trunk signaling is active and correctly routing calls, which is critical to call completion success in a TDM-to-IP softswitch deployment. It works alongside Sonus's DS1/DS3 TDM interface MIBs (such as SONUS-DS1-MIB), since CAS signaling is configured on top of those physical TDM trunk interfaces. Typical deployment is in carrier or enterprise voice networks where a Sonus softswitch/gateway interconnects legacy TDM trunks using CAS signaling with an IP-based voice network. Engineers can download the SONUS-CAS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SONUS-CAS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Sonus Networks softswitch/media gateway

Monitoring Examples

A telecom operator would poll sonusCasServiceGroupAdmnTable (via sonusCassgServiceGroupIndex) to confirm each configured CAS service group's sonusCassgServiceGroupSignalType and sonusCassgServiceGroupHuntAlgorithm match the expected trunk group provisioning. Checking sonusCassgServiceGroupTG and sonusCassgServiceGroupCost helps verify correct trunk group association and routing preference. A misconfigured sonusCassgServiceGroupIngressSSP or egress SSP setting would explain call routing failures on that particular CAS-signaled trunk group.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CAS service group configuration
  • signal type per service group
  • hunt algorithm/trunk group association
  • ingress/egress SSP settings
