Category: ATM Interface Management, SonomaSystems ATM WAN Management

Description: Manages SonomaSystems ATM IMA (inverse multiplexing over ATM) group configuration and link status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SONOMASYSTEMS-SONOMA-ATM-IMA-MIB?

SONOMASYSTEMS-SONOMA-ATM-IMA-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Sonoma Systems, nested under its SONOMASYSTEMS-SONOMA-MIB sonomaATM tree (sonomaImaATMAdapterGroup), that manages ATM Inverse Multiplexing over ATM (IMA) group configuration and per-link status for Sonoma's ATM adapters. Its imaGroupTable, indexed by imaGroupIndex, reports near-end and far-end IMA state (imaGroupNeState, imaGroupFeState), a bitmask imaGroupFailureStatus, group symmetry mode, configured/active transmit and receive link counts (imaGroupNumTxCfgLnks/NumTxActLnks and receive equivalents), timing-reference link selection, and differential-delay measurements (imaGroupDiffDelayMax, imaGroupDiffDelayMaxObs) between bonded links; the companion imaLinkTable reports per-link IMA state indexed by imaLinkIfIndex and imaGroupIndex. This lets an operator confirm that all configured member links of an IMA group are actually active and within acceptable differential delay, since an IMA group with fewer active links than configured runs at reduced bandwidth even though the group itself may still show as up. It depends on SONOMASYSTEMS-SONOMA-MIB for its sonomaATM parent OID and on standard ATM interface indexing for the underlying physical links, and it is deployed on Sonoma Systems ATM access equipment performing IMA bonding. Operators of that equipment can download the SONOMASYSTEMS-SONOMA-ATM-IMA-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SONOMASYSTEMS-SONOMA-ATM-IMA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Sonoma Systems ATM IMA adapters

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls imaGroupNumTxActLnks against imaGroupNumTxCfgLnks for a given imaGroupIndex to confirm all configured links are active, and checks imaGroupDiffDelayMaxObs against the group's tolerance; a active-link count lower than the configured count, or an imaLinkTable entry showing a link in a failed near-end state, indicates a member link has dropped out of the IMA group and available bandwidth is reduced.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IMA group near-end/far-end state
  • configured vs. active transmit/receive link counts
  • inter-link differential delay measurements
  • per-link IMA state and failure status
  • group failure status bitmask
