What Is SONICWALL-SMI?
SONICWALL-SMI is Dell SonicWall's enterprise Structure of Management Information MIB, which defines the top-level OID tree structure used as the registration namespace for all SonicWall product-specific MIB modules. It contains no runtime data objects itself, serving purely as the organizational backbone under which SonicWall firewall and security appliance MIBs register their object identifiers. Its relevance to monitoring is indirect: actual hardware/software status data for SonicWall devices, such as CPU/memory load, interface counters, VPN tunnel state, or threat/security event traps, are defined in separate SonicWall MIBs that hang off the OID arcs established here. Every other SonicWall-specific MIB module depends on this SMI module for its base OID assignment. The SONICWALL-SMI MIB is deployed wherever SonicWall firewall/UTM appliances are managed via SNMP within an organization's security infrastructure.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SONICWALL-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- SonicWall firewall/UTM appliances, entire product line (base enterprise OID registration)
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module, reflecting its nature as a pure OID-registration/SMI module rather than a data-bearing MIB. Administrators do not poll SONICWALL-SMI directly; instead, they walk the actual SonicWall device-status or firewall-feature MIBs that are registered under the OID branches this module defines. As such, there is no direct monitoring scenario associated with this module itself.
