Category: SNMP Infrastructure and Standards, Textual Conventions and SMI
Description: Defines IETF reusable row textual conventions for consistent table row lifecycle management across MIBs.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is SNMP-REUSABLE-ROW-TC-MIB?
SNMP-REUSABLE-ROW-TC-MIB is a vendor-neutral IETF MIB module (RFC 4409) that defines a single textual convention used by other MIB modules to indicate whether a conceptual table row is available for reuse after being marked for deletion. It does not itself expose runtime operational data; instead it provides a shared data type that other MIBs reference to standardize row-lifecycle management, for example in tables with a limited number of row slots. Because it has no monitorable objects of its own, it has no direct relevance to hardware/software health monitoring; its value is purely as a shared building block that other, data-bearing MIBs depend on. Its explicit purpose is to be imported by other MIB modules that need consistent row-reuse semantics, making it a foundational dependency rather than a standalone data source. It is used industry-wide wherever an IETF-style implementation needs consistent conceptual-row reuse indication across vendors. Engineers implementing or auditing this functionality typically reference the SNMP-REUSABLE-ROW-TC-MIB RFC/standard documentation for the authoritative specification.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SNMP-REUSABLE-ROW-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer
- applies as a building block for any SNMP-managed device implementing IETF MIBs
Monitoring Examples
This module is a conformance/textual-convention MIB with no runtime data objects of its own; it defines the reusable-row textual convention that gets imported and applied to actual table columns in other MIBs, such as a table with a fixed number of row slots. Because it has no sample objects and no runtime instance data, there is no direct monitoring scenario for this module itself; monitoring occurs in whichever MIB imports this textual convention. Administrators would never poll this MIB directly.
