Category: Fujitsu ServerView Server Management

Description: Manages Fujitsu ServerView firmware and software update scheduling, status, and inventory.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SERVERVIEW-UPDATE-MANAGEMENT-MIB?

SERVERVIEW-UPDATE-MANAGEMENT-MIB is a Fujitsu-specific SNMP module belonging to the ServerView systems-management suite, used to manage firmware and software update processes on Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers and related hardware. It exposes an update-agent identity/version table (svupdAgentId, svupdAgentCompany, svupdAgentVersion, svupdAgentBuild) and a component inventory table (svupdComponentTable/svupdComponentEntry) listing each manageable firmware/software component's path, type, subtype, and version. Its monitoring focus is squarely software/firmware status: it lets an admin confirm which update agent and version is running, enumerate every BIOS/firmware/driver component on the server along with its current version, and track update state — directly supporting patch/firmware compliance auditing across a server fleet. It is part of the broader Fujitsu ServerView MIB family and typically works alongside other ServerView hardware-health MIBs on the same agent. It is deployed on Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers (integrated into ServerView Suite/Operations Manager) to centrally track firmware/software update status across data-center server fleets. Engineers can download the SERVERVIEW-UPDATE-MANAGEMENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SERVERVIEW-UPDATE-MANAGEMENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Fujitsu PRIMERGY server (ServerView-managed)

Monitoring Examples

An admin would first check svupdAgentId/svupdAgentVersion/svupdAgentBuild to confirm the ServerView update agent itself is at an expected version, then walk svupdComponentTable/svupdComponentEntry (using svupdNumberComponentTableEntries for the row count) to see each component's svupdComponentId, svupdComponentPath, svupdComponentType/svupdComponentSubType, and svupdComponentVersion. A component reporting an older svupdComponentVersion than the fleet baseline flags a server that's fallen out of firmware compliance and needs an update job queued. This table effectively gives a per-server software/firmware inventory that can be diffed against Fujitsu's latest update bundle.

What Can Be Monitored

  • update agent version/build
  • firmware/software component inventory
  • per-component version
  • component type/subtype
  • number of manageable components
