What Is SIAE-EQUIPTYPE-MIB?

SIAE-EQUIPTYPE-MIB is a proprietary registry MIB from SIAE MICROELETTRONICA that defines the OID assignments used to identify the various types of equipment in its microwave radio product line. Rather than exposing live operational data, it provides a static/configuration-category mapping of equipment-type identifiers, used by other SIAE MIBs (such as the unit inventory MIB) to report what kind of radio platform or card is installed. Its monitoring relevance is indirect but important for software/hardware status: an NMS uses this registry to translate a numeric equipment-type OID reported by a device into a human-readable platform name, supporting accurate inventory and capability detection. It is a supporting/dependency MIB for SIAE's broader management suite, particularly SIAE-UNIT-MIB, rather than a standalone monitoring target. It is used wherever SIAE microwave radio equipment is deployed and managed via SNMP, primarily as a lookup reference during inventory and fault correlation. Engineers can download the SIAE-EQUIPTYPE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SIAE-EQUIPTYPE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • equipment type OID assignments
  • radio platform/model identification
  • equipment type registry lookup

Supported Devices

  • SIAE MICROELETTRONICA microwave radio equipment

Monitoring Examples

A network management system would use an equipment-type object reported by a radio unit (via SIAE-UNIT-MIB) and cross-reference it against the OID definitions in this registry to display the correct platform/model name in an inventory report. This lets an operator quickly distinguish, for example, an indoor unit from an outdoor unit type without manually maintaining a lookup table. Consistent use of this registry across SIAE MIBs ensures equipment-type reporting stays uniform across the fleet.
