Category: SCTE HMS Cable Headend

Description: Monitors SCTE HMS headend power supply voltage, current, and fault status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SCTE-HMS-PS-MIB?

SCTE-HMS-PS-MIB is the SCTE (Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers) HMS (Hardware Management System) standard MIB for cable-plant power supply monitoring, built on the shared SCTE-HMS-ROOTS SMI used across the HMS device family (amplifiers, power supplies, etc.). Its device table, keyed by address, records protocol/software version, device ID, and counts of batteries/battery strings/temperature sensors/outputs, alongside boolean capability-support flags for battery voltage/current, output voltage/power/frequency, input voltage/current/power, tamper detection, and major/minor alarms. As a hardware-status MIB it lets an administrator confirm a cable-plant power supply's monitored capabilities and check its reported alarm/tamper state. It is deployed on SCTE HMS-compliant cable-plant power supply units. Engineers can download the SCTE-HMS-PS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SCTE-HMS-PS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • SCTE HMS-compliant cable-plant power supply units

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks psMajorAlarmSupport and the corresponding alarm status object on a cable-plant power supply to confirm it will report a major fault before a scheduled outage-prone maintenance window.

What Can Be Monitored

  • power supply alarm/tamper status and capability flags
