What Is SAMSUNG-PRINTER-EXT-MIB?

SAMSUNG-PRINTER-EXT-MIB is a vendor extension module from Samsung that supplements the IETF Printer MIB (RFC 1759) with Samsung-specific SCMI (Samsung Common Management Interface) objects for their laser printers and multifunction devices. It exposes data layered on top of the standard printer status model, such as consumable levels, paper tray status, and job accounting detail specific to Samsung firmware. It is used to monitor the hardware and consumables status of a Samsung printer -- toner/drum remaining life, tray/output bin state, and print job completion/error status -- extending the base standard's device-status objects rather than duplicating them. It explicitly depends on and extends the IETF Printer MIB, so it is deployed alongside that standard module rather than standalone. It is typically used by print-fleet management software polling networked Samsung printers and MFPs for supply levels and job status, and administrators can load the module into a SAMSUNG-PRINTER-EXT-MIB MIB Browser session for ad hoc inspection.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SAMSUNG-PRINTER-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • toner/drum consumable levels
  • paper tray status
  • print job accounting
  • printer error conditions

Supported Devices

  • Samsung network printers
  • Samsung multifunction printers (MFPs)

Monitoring Examples

No object or table names were provided in the sample for this module, so specific identifiers can't be cited; based on the module description, this MIB would typically be polled alongside the standard Printer MIB's marker-supplies and detected-error-state objects to add Samsung-specific detail such as per-tray media status and drum/toner remaining percentage not covered by the base standard.

I32 scmPrtInputNextPrtInputIndex1.3.6.1.4.1.236.11.5.11.55.8.2.1.2Integer32read-createThe value of prtInputIndex corresponding to the input subunit which will be used when this input subunit is emptied. The value of zero indicates that auto input switching will not occur when this input subunit is emptied. Two different mechanisms for input tray switching, scmPrtNextPrtInputIndex and scmPrtInputAliasGroup, are provided. A device agent may make use of one or the other, none, or both. Use the model that fits best for the given application. Usage: Conforming management agents, which ALSO implement the the Printer MIB v2, SHALL set 'scmPrtInputNextPrtInputIndex' to the SAME value as 'prtInputNextIndex' (i.e., the values of these two objects SHALL be interlocked).
PRE scmPrtInputUseCustomSize1.3.6.1.4.1.236.11.5.11.55.8.2.1.3PresentOnOffread-createSpecifies how this input subunit determines the paper size to use.
