What Is SAMSUNG-HOST-RESOURCES-EXT-TC?

SAMSUNG-HOST-RESOURCES-EXT-TC is a Samsung textual-conventions (TC) module that supports the companion Samsung Host Resources Extension MIB (scmHrMIB), extending the standard IETF Host Resources MIB (RFC 2790) for Samsung network-attached devices such as printers and multi-function printers. Rather than defining pollable instance data directly, it defines the data types, enumerations, and building blocks used by the companion MIB's real objects, covering device status/condition codes, calendar/time-of-day types, and management command codes. Those types are used to report hardware/software realization and status of physical and logical device components, and to issue management commands such as device resets, aligning with ISO DPA-style device modeling. It explicitly depends on and extends RFC 2790 (Host Resources MIB) and is meant to be used together with the companion scmHrMIB module. It is typically deployed on Samsung network printers/MFPs where extended device status beyond plain Host Resources reporting is needed. Engineers can download the SAMSUNG-HOST-RESOURCES-EXT-TC file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SAMSUNG-HOST-RESOURCES-EXT-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • device/component status
  • extended device status
  • device fault conditions
  • device management command state
  • device realization type (physical/logical)
  • calendar/time-of-day settings

Supported Devices

  • Samsung network printers/MFPs (multi-function printers)

Monitoring Examples

The companion MIB uses these TCs to report sCmHrDevInfoStatus/sCmHrDevInfoXStatus (device or component status) and sCmHrDevInfoConditions/sCmHrDevInfoXConditions (fault conditions) for a realized device component, letting an admin detect a fault-like condition on the printer; sCmHrDevMgmtCommandRequest, using enumerations in the style of scmHrAdminDeviceResetWarning, would be used to issue a remote device reset command.

scmHrTC1.3.6.1.4.1.236.11.5.11.52Version: 1.00 The TC module for textual conventions, enumerated types, OIDs, and other volatile elements of the companion Host Resources Extensions MIB ('scmHrMIB'), which supports extended configuration and management of various host resources for network accessible host systems. These modules augment and extend the original IETF Host Resources MIB (RFC 2790). Usage: This MIB module introduces support for the 'realization' of both 'physical' and 'logical' devices, consistent with ISO DPA (Document Printing Application), ISO/IEC 10175, as reflected in the object 'scmHrDevInfoRealization'. Note: Conforming implementations SHALL NOT 'bubble up' status from 'physical' devices to associated 'logical' devices. All devices SHALL report their own status ONLY. See: Section 9 'Supplement' in SCMI Extensions to IETF Host Resources TC, for implementation guidance for this TC module. Copyright (C) 1995-2003 Samsung Corporation. All Rights Reserved.
