What Is SAMSUNG-CLONING-MIB?

SAMSUNG-CLONING-MIB is a vendor-specific extension MIB from Samsung, built as an extension to the IETF Printer MIB (RFC 1759), used to manage networked laser printers and multifunction devices. It focuses on device configuration cloning, allowing an administrator to copy one printer's complete configuration set to one or many other printers of the same model, rather than exposing broad hardware sensor data. In terms of monitoring, this module is chiefly useful for tracking the status/progress and outcome of a configuration clone (bulk copy) operation -- whether a clone job succeeded, failed, or is in progress -- rather than temperature, fan, or CPU telemetry. It explicitly depends on and extends the IETF Printer MIB (RFC 1759), and is only meaningful alongside that standard MIB's printer status objects. It is deployed in enterprise print-fleet management scenarios where IT staff rely on SAMSUNG-CLONING-MIB SNMP monitoring to roll out identical settings across many Samsung printers/MFPs quickly.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SAMSUNG-CLONING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • clone/copy operation status
  • clone job success or failure
  • source and target device identification
  • bulk configuration copy progress

Supported Devices

  • Samsung network laser printer
  • Samsung multifunction printer (MFP)

Monitoring Examples

Sample objects were not enumerated for this MIB, but given its stated purpose an administrator would typically trigger and poll a clone-operation status object to confirm that a bulk configuration copy from a master printer to target printers completed successfully. A typical anomaly this would reveal is a clone job that stalls or fails on one target device in a fleet rollout, indicating a firmware mismatch or connectivity issue with that device.
