Description: Manages Ruckus Wireless wireless backhaul link configuration, status, and performance statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RUCKUS-WLINK-MIB?

RUCKUS-WLINK-MIB manages Ruckus Wireless backhaul link (WLINK) configuration and performance for point-to-point or mesh wireless links used to connect remote APs back to the network, common in outdoor/bridge deployments. It exposes per-link configuration (SSID, role as master/slave, local and remote MAC addresses) and performance statistics (transmitted/received packets and bytes, link establishment time, and current uptime). This is a hardware/software status MIB focused on wireless backhaul link health: it lets an admin confirm a wireless bridge link is up (via uptime and establish time), identify link endpoints by MAC, and detect throughput problems from Tx/Rx counters, all important since a failed backhaul link can isolate an entire remote site. It relies on standard MAC addressing conventions but is otherwise a self-contained Ruckus enterprise MIB. It is deployed in outdoor wireless bridging scenarios, such as connecting a remote building or a mesh AP back to the core network wirelessly. Engineers can download the RUCKUS-WLINK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RUCKUS-WLINK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ruckus Wireless bridge/mesh access points

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll ruckusWLINKTable (ruckusWLINKEntry) keyed by SSID, checking ruckusWLINKUpTime and ruckusWLINKEstablishTime to confirm the wireless backhaul link between ruckusWLINKLocalMAC and ruckusWLINKRemoteMAC has been stable. Comparing ruckusWLINKTxPkts/ruckusWLINKTxBytes against ruckusWLINKRxPkts/ruckusWLINKRxBytes over time would reveal asymmetric traffic or a degrading link if counters stop incrementing on one side. ruckusWLINKRole (master/slave) confirms the link topology, useful when troubleshooting which end initiated a failed reconnection.

What Can Be Monitored

  • wireless backhaul link up/establish time
  • link local and remote MAC addresses
  • link transmit/receive packet and byte counters
  • link role (master/slave)

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using ruckusWLINKTxPkts OID:

Select a Ruckus Wireless bridge/mesh access point (wireless backhaul link configuration/performance) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type ruckusWLINKTxPkts into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports the number of tx packets. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
