Category: Environmental Monitoring

Description: Manages AVTECH Room Alert 32E rack environment monitor sensors, thresholds, and alert states.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ROOMALERT32E-MIB?

ROOMALERT32E-MIB manages the AVTECH Room Alert 32E, a rack/room environmental monitoring appliance, exposing readings from its onboard and connected sensors. Data categories include internal temperature (Fahrenheit and Celsius), internal humidity, computed heat index, internal power status, analog sensor inputs, and multiple digital sensor channels. This is a hardware environmental-status MIB used to monitor physical conditions around IT equipment: temperature and humidity trends, heat index for comfort/risk assessment, power status of the monitor itself, and digital sensor states (e.g. door contacts, water leak detectors) attached to the unit. It has no strong dependency on other standard MIBs, being a self-contained AVTECH enterprise MIB. It is typically deployed in server rooms, network closets, and data centers to provide early warning of cooling failures, power loss, or physical security events via SNMP polling or traps. Engineers can download the ROOMALERT32E-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ROOMALERT32E-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • AVTECH Room Alert 32E environmental monitor

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll internal-tempf/internal-tempc and internal-humidity to track ambient conditions in the room, alongside internal-heat-index for a combined comfort/risk metric, and internal-power to confirm the Room Alert unit itself has stable power. The digital-sen1-1 through digital-sen1-4 objects report the state of attached digital sensors (e.g. door, water, motion), so a state change on digital-sen1-2 could indicate a door was opened or a leak was detected. A rising internal-tempc value combined with normal internal-power would point to an HVAC failure rather than a power issue.

What Can Be Monitored

  • internal temperature (F/C)
  • internal humidity
  • heat index
  • unit power status
  • analog sensor inputs
  • digital sensor channel states
