fallingAlarm

Module: RMON-MIB

OID (symbolic): RMON-MIB::fallingAlarm

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.0.2

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description:

The SNMP trap that is generated when an alarm entry crosses its falling threshold and generates an event that is configured for sending SNMP traps.

What is fallingAlarm?

This SNMP notification (trap) is generated when a monitored metric crosses below its configured falling threshold on RMON probes, indicating improvement or recovery from an alarm condition. Operations teams use this notification to detect when thresholds return to normal and to trigger automatic recovery actions. Falling alarms complement rising alarms to provide bidirectional threshold monitoring.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' RMON-MIB::fallingAlarm
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.0.2

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:61670->[192.168.30.10]:162]:

  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: RMON-MIB::fallingAlarm
