Organization: Lucent Technologies

Last Updated: 240701

Category: Telephony and VoIP

Description: Defines SNMP trap notifications for Lucent Technologies media gateway resource module events.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RM-TRAP-MIB?

RM-TRAP-MIB is a Lucent Technologies enterprise MIB defining SNMP trap/notification objects for the "Resource Module" (RM) component of Lucent media gateway platforms. It exposes fault and event notifications tied to the resource module's hardware rather than pollable status counters, alerting management systems when resource-module conditions change. As a trap-only MIB, its monitoring value is asynchronous fault/status notification — for example, alerting when a resource module goes out of service or recovers — rather than uptime, temperature, or performance counters. It is designed to work alongside its companion data MIB, RM3-MIB, which defines the resource module's status/configuration objects that these traps report against. It's deployed in Lucent telecom media gateway platforms, primarily in carrier voice/telephony network environments, where RM-TRAP-MIB SNMP monitoring provides real-time fault notification for resource-module conditions.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RM-TRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Lucent Technologies SoftSwitch platform (VoIP media gateway controller) -- Resource Module hardware fault traps

Monitoring Examples

No object names were provided for this MIB (its captured module description is an unfilled placeholder), and it is described as a trap-definition module, so it cannot be described as exposing pollable runtime data; its monitoring value is the notifications themselves, sent when a resource module in the media gateway changes fault or operational state.
