What Is RBTWS-PORT-MIB?
RBTWS-PORT-MIB is an Enterasys Networks enterprise MIB that manages the wired uplink/downlink ports on RoamAbout wireless LAN controller platforms, covering port configuration, VLAN assignment, Power-over-Ethernet mode, and trunk relationships, alongside traffic statistics. It exposes both configuration data (port mode, PoE mode, trunk master designation) and operational/performance data (per-port traffic counters via associated data objects), giving visibility into the wired side of a wireless controller's connectivity. For hardware/software status monitoring, it lets an administrator confirm that a controller's uplink ports are correctly configured and powering attached devices (e.g. PoE-fed access points), and watch traffic statistics for signs of a saturated or failing uplink. It is a standalone Enterasys enterprise MIB, generally used alongside other RBTWS-prefixed MIBs (such as the client-session textual conventions) that share the same controller platform context. It is deployed on Enterasys/Extreme RoamAbout wireless LAN controllers where wired ports feed power and connectivity to PoE access points. Engineers can download the RBTWS-PORT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RBTWS-PORT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Enterasys RoamAbout wireless LAN controller
Monitoring Examples
An administrator can walk rbtwsPortConfigTable/rbtwsPortConfigEntry, indexed by rbtwsPortConfigPortNumber, to check rbtwsPortConfigPortMode and rbtwsPortConfigPoeMode to confirm a given port is configured for access-point uplink with PoE enabled, and check rbtwsPortConfigTrunkMaster to verify trunk group membership. If an access point loses power, the admin checks rbtwsPortConfigPoeMode on its uplink port to confirm PoE is still enabled and cross-references traffic objects under rbtwsPortDataObjects to see if the port link itself dropped.
What Can Be Monitored
- port mode configuration
- PoE mode per port
- trunk master/group membership
- per-port traffic statistics
