What Is RBTWS-ROOT-MIB?

RBTWS-ROOT-MIB is an Enterasys Networks (formerly Cabletron, via its Trapeze/RoamAbout wireless acquisition) root MIB that establishes the top-level enterprise OID tree and registration structure for the RoamAbout wireless LAN controller product family. It defines only naming/registration nodes—cabletron, mibs, ctronTrapeze, rbtwsProducts, rbtwsTemporary, rbtwsRegistration—rather than runtime data objects, so it exposes no monitorable hardware or software status directly. All actual device health and performance data (uptime, radio status, client counts, etc.) is defined in the sibling RoamAbout/Trapeze wireless MIB modules that register beneath this root branch. It has a direct dependency on the Cabletron/Enterasys enterprise SMI numbering scheme it extends. It is deployed solely as organizational infrastructure alongside the functional RBTWS wireless controller and access point MIBs in Enterasys RoamAbout wireless LAN deployments. The RBTWS-ROOT-MIB module is typically referenced only when troubleshooting OID resolution for the RoamAbout product MIBs that register beneath it, not as a source of monitorable data itself.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RBTWS-ROOT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Enterasys RoamAbout (Trapeze-derived) wireless LAN switches/controllers

Monitoring Examples

With only registration nodes and no data-bearing sample_objects, this module provides no runtime monitoring scenario by itself—it is a namespace root MIB. Real monitoring of RoamAbout wireless switch/controller status, radios, and clients would be performed via the specific RBTWS product MIBs that register their object trees beneath rbtwsProducts.
