What Is RBN-IETF-IF-CAP?
RBN-IETF-IF-CAP is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module documenting the SNMP agent's support for the standard IETF Interfaces MIB (IF-MIB) and the IF-INVERTED-STACK-MIB (RFC 2864) on Ericsson SmartEdge (Redback) platforms. As a capabilities statement it defines no runtime objects itself; it enumerates which interface-related groups and objects the agent actually implements for a given SEOS release. It has no direct role in reporting live interface up/down state or traffic counters -- that data lives in IF-MIB proper -- but it tells a management station what level of interface monitoring detail is available on the platform. It is explicitly a conformance layer over the standards-track IF-MIB and IF-INVERTED-STACK-MIB. It is deployed as part of the SNMP agent on Ericsson SmartEdge/SSR routers wherever standards-based interface monitoring is used. Engineers can download the RBN-IETF-IF-CAP file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RBN-IETF-IF-CAP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module with no runtime data objects (sample_objects is empty); it declares IF-MIB and IF-INVERTED-STACK-MIB conformance rather than exposing interface counters or status itself. There is no monitoring scenario to invent -- actual interface operational status and stacking relationships would be polled from IF-MIB and IF-INVERTED-STACK-MIB.
